About Me:
FinancialCentsUniversity was started in April 2018 by Professor FIRE. If you don’t already know, the personal finance world has a subset of ambitious and driven individuals that strive for Financial Independence, Retire Early (FIRE). Graduating from college with a finance background, I set out to “retire” by the time I am 35. At the start of this blog, I am 24 years old and hope to share my knowledge about personal finance that so many miss out on or learn too late in their lives.
The goal of this blog is two-fold, hold myself accountable for my personal and financial goals and educate others with information that can set them on a path for financial success. This isn’t your cheapskate lifestyle, eat rice and beans blog. This is a resource for those who want to start optimizing their spending habits on what truly brings them happiness and cutting out everything in your budget that does not bring you joy.
I graduated when I was 21 years old with a total net worth of about $1500. I then became a math teacher for a few years and picked up a second job and was able to save 50% of my income. By the end of my two years teaching, I had managed to save about $40k with plenty of life experiences never hindered by my savings goals. I did this by optimizing my budget to spend money on only what truly brings me happiness.
Personal finance is a passion of mine and I hope to use this blog to educate others and challenge myself in a way that holds me accountable. I encourage you to participate in the comments and discussions of various blog posts and suggest any ideas or thoughts you may have.
